  • Info, Pricing & Scheduling for Lessons

Please note that lessons are weather & wind dependent. While we will strive to complete each and every lesson, please understand that weather conditions are out of our control. Please see below concerning our refund policy.

Lessons will be by the hour. Progression, and thereby total
hours required to reach self-sufficiency, will be individual-based.

Deposits equal to half the lesson rate are required to book each lesson.

Lesson #1 – $80 (1 hr). Lesson #2 – $90 (1 hr). Lesson #3 – $100 (1-1/2 hrs). Lessons #4 & #5 – $125 each lesson (1-1/2 hrs each lesson). Prices are for the time frames listed. If desired, the student may extend any of the listed lessons in order to revisit the covered material or have more hands-on practice. The rate to extend any lesson is $50/hr (this applies to the completed lesson(s) only). 2-Person (double) lessons are also available. This can add another level of enjoyment for students as this will allow them to have a partner to learn, progress and build memories with right away during and after the lessons. Double rates: Lesson #1 – $140 (1 hr to 1-1/2 hrs.). Lesson #2 – $160 (1-1/2 hrs). Lesson #3 – $180 (2 hrs). Lessons #4 & #5 – $225 each lesson (2 hrs each lesson).

It is highly recommended that each student watch at least one beginner kiteboarding video prior to the first lesson (YouTube, etc.) to become familiar with some of the fundamentals (we have a video posted to our Facebook page that we recommend). This should assist in the student retaining more of the information presented and thereby, progress faster.

Lesson #1 information will include, at a minimum, 1.
kiteboarding terminology & theory 2. gear overview & set-up & 3. safety rules & procedures. Any available time remaining after reviewing these items will be used to practice flying a trainer kite. If not, trainer kite flying will be covered during lesson #2. Subsequent lesson material will be dependent on each student’s progress. However, the normal progression is as follows:

Lesson #2: Review of key Lesson #1 material. Trainer kite flying (on land). Launching & Landing of full size kite.

Lesson #3. Review of de-power/kite release safety procedures (simulated). Full size kite flying (in water w/o board. This is to become familiar with kite steering and response time under limited power and activation of de-power/safety systems for real-time experience).

Lesson #4: Review of key items from Lesson #3.    Body dragging in water (this is to become familiar with increased
kite power and steering the kite while being pulled through the water) with jet ski support.

Lesson #5: Review of key items from Lesson #4. Kite & board riding combination with jet ski support.

After Lesson #5 is completed, TKA will review the overall aptitude of each student and advise whether we feel additional lessons are advisable.

It is important to note that Lesson #1 can be booked at your earliest convenience as the topics covered during this initial session will not require the presence of wind (see above). Completing this lesson as soon as possible will ensure you are ready for Lesson #2 the next time there is adequate wind to use a trainer kite.

NOTE: Booties are HIGHLY recommended for foot protection. Cold weather gear (neoprene wetsuit & gloves, etc.) is recommended when appropriate and/or based on individual temperature sensitivity. TKA can provide a wetsuit and booties if needed. This way you will not have to purchase these items up-front if you do not want to. We have one size in both men’s and women’s that should be adequate for most individuals. These are cleaned and sanitized after every use.

Lesson site will be at Sunset Beach/Howard Park or Anclote Island depending on wind direction. Other locations are possible if preferred and agreed to.

Balance of payment due day of lesson prior to starting.

Cancellation Policy: Please allow for 24-hour notice.
If cancelled prior to 24-hours due to student needs, lack of wind (to be determined by TKA as this will be dependent on each student’s weight/size) or inclement weather (rain and/or thunderstorms), a full refund of the deposit will be issued. If cancelled within 24-hours due to student needs (anything other than wind/weather) then the deposit will not be refunded. However, this can be applied toward rescheduling another lesson (limit one per student for entire length of lessons duration).

Refund Policy: In the middle of the lesson due to no
wind or inclement weather conditions, prorated with either a credit for the left-over portion of the service or reschedule the balance of the lesson for a future date. Prior to lesson starting see above under Cancellation Policy.

***Execution of a Waiver/Release of Liability Form is required prior to departure**

  • Info, Pricing & Scheduling for Day Trips

Would you like to progress enough to be up and riding in one day? Who wouldn’t right? Well here at TKA, we offer the VIP treatment which includes a day trip out to one of the local islands near Tarpon Springs. There, we will spend the day progressing through all five lessons so you achieve that oh-so-good feeling of reaching your goal faster….becoming a self-sufficient kiteboarder. So not only will you combine all lessons into one day, thereby saving time and avoiding the irritation of possible prolonged gaps between lessons due to non-wind stretches, but you’ll do this while enjoying the clear and beautiful scenery that the local islands have to offer. We will also include snacks and beverages so you won’t have to worry about lugging a cooler with you. However, you are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages if desired.

We also offer the same service if you are already an experienced rider, are just looking for a change of scenery and want a little adventure. Why travel all the way to the Keys for island kiting when we have our own crystal-clear waters right in our own back yard.

Discussions will be held to confirm approval of what TKA offers or so you can advise of any special dietary needs / restrictions.
